Past: Once, about two summers ago, I boarded an overnight coach from Karaj to Tabriz with a close friend. Around three, we pulled into a sleepy café; the tea tasted surprisingly rich, and the night air smelled of wet asphalt. By dawn, the mountains turned silver‑blue, and the first sun laid a thin ribbon of gold along the ridges. In Tabriz, the labyrinthine bazaar swallowed us: copper pans clanged, spices perfumed the air, and a carpet seller told us how patterns carry family stories.

Future: Until finally, on the ride home, I realized that trips don’t have to be expensive to feel expansive. Next time, I’ll still choose the bus—but I’ll bring a neck pillow and a longer playlist, because I want the night to feel that wide again.
